Artist Statement

Greetings. I’m Win Naing, a passionate watercolor artist fascinated by the vibrant interplay and enigmatic fusion of colors inherent in the medium. My creative muse stems from the rich tapestry of the world around me. I draw inspiration from diverse landscapes and the dynamic streets of bustling metropolises like New York City, where I meticulously capture urban vignettes in my sketches. Some of my paintings reflect my old memories of the warm and dusty scenes of Burma, where I grew up. Additionally, my fascination with aviation fuels my exploration of the intricate details found in aircraft and machinery, often reflected in my art.

Having nurtured my artistic talents since childhood, I honed my skills further through formal training in painting at the State School of Fine Arts in Mandalay, Burma. Alongside my affinity for watercolors, I find joy in digital painting on my iPad and occasional forays into ink, acrylics, and oil pastels.

Complementing my artistic endeavors, I’ve dedicated over a decade to a full-time career as a graphic designer in New York City. Specializing in branding, photography, and packaging, I integrate my artistic vision into commercial projects. My creative journey serves as a harmonious blend of art and design, allowing me to traverse diverse mediums and disciplines while continually pushing the boundaries of my creativity.
