The objectives of the Brooklyn Watercolor Society are to further the creative efforts of its members, to spread knowledge and cultivate interest in the transparent watercolor medium.

About Tom
Thomas Kerr has been doing illustrative work in the New York area for 30 years. Graduating from the Alberta College of Art & Design and continuing on to his Masters degree at Illustration as Visual Essay (MFAI) from School of Visual Arts. Tom’s work is published widely in the United States news media with editorial illustration featured on the Oped pages of many national newspapers. Tom’s illustration is also syndicated by Now What Media via the INX group. Currently a tenured professor at St. John’s University, teaching drawing & Illustration, Tom has taught three generations of artists. Contributing a weekly editorial illustration to the oped page of The Wave, New York City’s oldest weekly newspaper. For Tom, watercolor is a way to escape the analytical world of editorial art. There it is possible employ levels of vision and control to suite personal priorities and explore those as far as he is able or wishes to.
