The objectives of the Brooklyn Watercolor Society are to further the creative efforts of its members, to spread knowledge and cultivate interest in the transparent watercolor medium.

Artist Statement

John Dillon was born and raised in Marine Park, Brooklyn and has lived in Brooklyn all his life. Since being admitted to the Brooklyn Watercolor Society in 2005, he has participated in many of the Society’s shows as well as exhibiting at the 440 Gallery, Saint Joseph’s College  and the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition. He has also performed traditional Irish music as a singer and instrumentalist for the last 40 years in the tri-state area, performing and producing the weekly sessions at Wilde’s Irish Ale House (1976 – 1982), The Real McCoy (1982 – 1986) and Paddy Reilly’s Music Bar (1987 – 2003). In 2016 his painting ” Afternoon” was selected for inclusion in the Salmagundi Club’s Non-Members Painting and Sculpture Exhibition. He is currently Vice-President of the Brooklyn Watercolor Society.
